Democratic Sen. John Hoffman, his wife, and House Democratic leader Melissa Hortman were injured in what the governor describes as targeted shootings.

A Minnesota mayor says two state lawmakers were shot in their homes early Saturday. Mayor Ryan Sabas of Champlin said state senator John Hoffman and state representative Melissa Hortman were shot, and that Hoffman’s wife was also shot.

A Democratic state lawmaker and her husband were killed early Saturday in what appeared to be a "politically motivated assassination," while a second lawmaker and his spouse were wounded in a separate attack,
