Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman announced on Tuesday plans to provide $500,000 in emergency funds to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank.
With the Trump Administration threatening to withhold SNAP benefits to Americans in need, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” has launched a food drive to support the Los Angeles Food Bank and the St. Joseph Center.
As the federal government shutdown continues, food banks and community organizations are under more pressure to meet the increased need for food assistance and resources. Dallas County commissioners approved a $1 million donation to the North Texas Food Bank to help address that need.
"It's shameful for the government to have been shut down," Feenstra said in a Food Bank of Iowa tour. "It really is, and it puts people in a pinch."
Gov. Lee said Second Harvest Food Bank will receive most of the $5 million in funding, which will be distributed within the next few days.
