A mother has been arrested after a 1-year-old girl was found dead inside a hearse at a funeral home in Gadsden, Alabama, authorities said.

The mother of a 1-year-old baby found dead in a funeral home’s hearse was being held without bond Monday after being charged with the tot’s murder.

The body of 1-year-old Blessence Pearl was discovered Saturday morning inside the hearse at West Gadsden Funeral Home. Her mother, 29-year-old Terica Pearl, is charged with capital murder. Charging documents against Pearl made public Monday state that the toddler girl was strangled with a “thick robe string.”
