President Donald Trump vows "very serious retaliation" after an ISIS gunman killed two U.S. Army soldiers and an interpreter in a Syrian ambush, leaving three other soldiers wounded.
The attack, which took place in the city of Palmyra, comes a year after the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the lifting of U.S. sanctions.
The two men who killed 15 people on Sunday were driven by “Islamic State ideology,” Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told Australia’s public broadcaster.
Two Iowa National Guard soldiers were killed in an ISIS attack in Syria. They were on a mission in support of counter-terrorism efforts.
