The New York Knicks theoretically have one of the most desirable head-coaching jobs in all of basketball. They have a roster that just came six games short of a championship. They play in the league's biggest market and its most famous arena.

The Dallas Mavericks will not allow head coach Jason Kidd to interview with the New York Knicks for their own head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Charania reports that as of Tuesday night the Knicks haven’t made a request to interview Kidd, but the Mavericks will turn them down if that happens.

The New York Knicks reportedly reached out to the Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves for permission to speak with head coaches Ime Udoka and Chris Finch, respectively, but were denied by both teams.
