Arkansas named Memphis' Ryan Silverfield as its 35th head coach in program history on Sunday. Silverfield, 45, guided the Tigers to an 8-4 record this season and a 50-24 mark since replacing Mike Norvell as the team's coach in December 2019.

For the sixth straight season, Memphis missed the American Conference championship game after going each of the three years before Silverfield got the job.

Memphis football was 8-1 with good odds of getting to the College Football Playoff. Then it lost three games in a row, including to Navy.
