A widespread outage has hit Amazon Web Services (AWS), disrupting major websites and apps around the globe. The issue, centered in AWS’s US-East-1 region, began around midnight EST, causing server errors, timeouts and failed connections. The website health tracker Downdetector lit up as users reported issues en masse.
PayPal and Venmo are both experiencing outages as of the morning of October 16, with thousands of reports suggesting a widespread issue.
