May Chung started this plant from a cutting, but she had no idea what it was. We were able to identify it as Clerodendrum thomsoniae, a vine also known as bleeding glory bower or bleeding heart vine.
Although the name ‘’Clerodendrum’’ is only vaguely familiar to many gardeners, the genus represents numerous plants common in our landscapes. Of the 400 or so species, the great majority are shrubs.
