The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center earlier warned of waves of up to 3m (10ft) above tide level reaching the Philippine coast.

Last week, Cebu province in Philippines was rocked by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake that killed at least 74 people and left scores injured. The powerful quake also destroyed the centuries-old Parish of Saint Peter the Apostle in Bantayan, which crumbled due to the impact of the tremors.

A tropical storm has blown out of the Philippines and left at least 10 dead and prompted the evacuations of more than 430,000 people from landslide- and flood-prone villages.
