U.S. widens war against suspected drug traffickers with strike off the Pacific coast of Colombia
The U.S. military carried out its eighth strike against a boat allegedly carrying drugs, killing two people, officials said Wednesday.
The U.S. military on Wednesday launched its ninth strike against an alleged drug-carrying vessel, killing three people in the eastern Pacific Ocean, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said, expanding the Trump administration’s campaign against drug trafficking in South America.
The last time Andrés Fernando Tufiño Chila’s sister heard from him was about a year ago when he told her he was heading out to fish for work, she said. Last week, she was shocked to learn that her brother was aboard an alleged drug vessel that was struck by the US military.
The United States has launched military strikes on seven suspected drug trafficking vessels since September, killing at least 32 people.
