The dogs were malnourished and suffering from infestations and skin issues due to neglect, the Humane Society said.

The Humane Society of Broward County is encouraging families to consider adoption as dozens of puppies, adult dogs, and cats wait for new homes.

Fees will be half price for the month beginning Friday and ll fees will be waived on Aug. 23 to clear crowded shelters.

The San Diego Humane Society and Rancho Coastal Humane Society are holding “Clear the Shelters” events in August.
