Tropical Storm Erin is expected to become the Atlantic’s first hurricane of 2025 today, according to the National Hurricane Center. And it could become a Category 4 storm before it’s done. Tropical storm watches remained in effect for parts of the Leeward Islands, which could get brushed by the storm as it passes by to the north over the weekend.

In the Gulf, Invest 98L has a low chance for development, before it moves inland over northeastern Mexico or southern Texas by late Friday.
