Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing went without a jackpot winner, pushing the top prize to an estimated $1 billion for Saturday. It’s the second largest of this year, lagging only the $1.787 billion Powerball jackpot in September, claimed by two winners in Missouri and Texas.
The Kwik Star at 1200 Chatham Ave. in Norwalk sold a Mega Millions ticket on Nov. 11, and it came up with the first five winning numbers — (10-13-40-42-46) — missing only the Mega Ball. It was one of just three in the country to win that prize. The holder of that winning ticket will need to head to the Iowa Lottery office in Clive to claim it.
After the Powerball jackpot remained unclaimed on Wednesday, Dec. 10, it has now climbed to an estimated $1 billion, according to Powerball's website. If someone wins the massive jackpot, they can choose to take home a one-time cash payment of $461.
