For the first time ever, Lake Charles and much of Acadiana are under a blizzard warning as snow blankets the area Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service issued the advisory just before 6 a.m. It lasts until 12 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles, LA, issued a blizzard warning about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025 for Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. It is the first blizzard warning ever issued by the Lake Charles weather service office.

According to DOTD, de-icing efforts are starting in the Lafayette and Lake Charles area. Crews will then work east as progress is made on the roads.
