Diplomatic teams from Ukraine and the United States are holding talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday in steps toward ending a full-scale war started by Russia in 2022.

Two senior Ukrainian officials say a Kyiv delegation that will meet with America’s top diplomat in Saudi Arabia will propose a ceasefire with Russia covering the Black Sea and long-range missile strikes.

The resumption of U.S. military and intelligence aid for Ukraine follows a contentious White House meeting between the American and Ukrainain leaders, but Moscow is unlikely to agree to the proposed ceasefire.
