Nearly two years after a wind-whipped wildfire on the Hawaiian island of Maui destroyed whole neighborhoods in Lahiana, dump trunks began moving about 400,000 tons of debris to the final disposal site this week.

Army helicopters are continuing attempts to contain a brush fire at the Schofield Barracks Range Complex in Hawaii that has already burned about 570 acres since it began.

The Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) issued evacuation orders for homes near Mile Markers 24 and 25, with approximately 105 Kahikinui homestead lots in the area. Door-to-door evacuations were also conducted by Maui Police Department and MFD, according to an official update.

An Emergency Proclamation (EP) was signed Sunday at 6 p.m., by Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke, in response to a brush fire on Maui.
