Stewart was rated as the No. 17 overall player and the No. 3 edge-rusher in the draft class by Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department. He played three collegiate seasons at Texas A&M where he recorded 65 total tackles and 4.5 sacks in his career.

In the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected former Texas A&M edge defender Shemar Stewart. Before the draft, we went on record that Stewart was a guy we were scared to draft and not a guy we would spend a first-round pick on.
