No references were made in a detailed review of the response to Storm Éowyn of any contact between the Irish and UK weather services, except around the naming of one of the worst storms to hit the island.
Storm Benjamin is still expected to develop into the afternoon across the southeast of England with gales up to 55mph possible, the Met Office said, though the storm is now starting to track away from the UK.
According to Met Office weather maps, scattered spells of snowfall are now expected across northern parts of Scotland from around 10 pm on Friday night, with these continuing into the early hours of Saturday morning.
Yellow warnings for strong winds and heavy rain are in force as Storm Benjamin hits parts of the UK. The Met Office has warned of potential flooding, power cuts and travel disruption. Damage to buildings is possible, with "a small chance of injuries and danger to life" from large waves as the storm moves from the Channel to the North Sea.
