The storm will impact about 200,000 square miles with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour in some areas. And more winter weather arrives midweek.

Another round of snow showers and flurries is expected Thursday morning into the afternoon. One to six inches of snow can be expected areawide and up to 0.25 inches of ice, mainly in the southern portions of the viewing area. This could lead to downed trees and power lines.

Snow will fall across most of the tri-state area Saturday night and into Sunday morning. A total of 2 to 5 inches are possible in New York City with 5 to 8 inches possible in inland areas north of the five boroughs.

The winter storm caused thousands of power outages and hundreds of accidents across the state, resulting in at least one death.

The last in a long train of storms will bring snow and ice to the Mid-Atlantic and Carolinas on Wednesday. While Washington will be near the northern edge of the storm starting late in the morning — with a dusting to a half-inch of snow possible in the District and areas to the south by the evening — impacts will be moderate to major farther south.
