United Airlines, which makes up 75 per cent of flights through Newark, have had to cut back in the face of air traffic controller shortages, outdated safety equipment, and ongoing runway construction

The Federal Aviation Administration is holding a two-day meeting with major airlines on Wednesday to discuss its proposal to cut flights at Newark Liberty International Airport in order to address major delays.

Newark Liberty International Airport has been at the center of some of these air traffic control issues for the past few weeks. A temporary radar and radio outage set off delays and cancellations that continue to persist.
