ANAHEIM -- Leo Carlsson scored twice for the Anaheim Ducks, who cruised to a 7-1 win against the Chicago Blackhawks at Honda Center on Sunday. The Ducks had 53 shots on goal, the first time they had generated at least 50 since March 28, 2014.

In the midst of a challenging portion in their schedule, the Chicago Blackhawks concluded a rough weekend on the West Coast with a 7-1 loss to the Ducks in Anaheim on Sunday night.

The Ducks domineered a wobbly-legged opponent that was short on depth and experience, even before it was missing Teuvo Teräväinen and Nick Foligno. They bombarded the Blackhawks across the first 40 minutes, scoring 10:16 into the first period and then at the 6:40, 9:26, 16:09 and 17:23 marks of the second.

The former Rangers captain delivered a massive and controversial hit on Washington Capitals forward Ryan Leonard late in the first period of Anaheim’s 4-3 shootout victory. Trouba caught Leonard from the blind side with his shoulder on a thunderous hit behind the Ducks net.

The Ducks are facing the reality-check portion of the season. Ville Husso is focused on getting them through it.
