Elena Rybakina maintained her undefeated record at the WTA Finals with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Russian alternate Ekaterina Alexandrova in Riyadh on Wednesday.
Elena Rybakina continued to excel despite entering the WTA Finals as the player to earn their spot in the field. Originally scheduled to play Madison Keys, she instead faced Ekaterina Alexandrova after Keys fell ill.
World number two Swiatek made 36 unforced errors in the last two sets while Rybakina made 17, with the Kazakh player getting her first win over the six-time Grand Slam champion in their last five meetings to edge closer to the semi-finals.
