Kaden Groves of Alpecin–Deceuninck won the sixth stage of the Giro d'Italia in a sprint finish on Thursday after the stage was neutralised following a huge crash in wet conditions on the 227 km ride from Potenza to Naples.

Former Giro d'Italia champion Jai Hindley is out of stage six of the Giro d'Italia after he was involved in a mass crash which saw several competitors unseated.

The race was neutralised after a serious crash with around 70km to go on wet, slippery roads, with 2022 winner Hindley, Intermarchy-Wanty’s Dion Smith and Alpecin-Deceuninck rider Juri Hollmann all abandoning as a result of their injuries.
