HOOVER, Ala. -- A day after losing five-star offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell in the last hour to Miami, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart decried the current uncertainty surrounding college football recruiting.
Jackson Cantwell and his parents once drove 1,200 miles through the heart of SEC Country to visit LSU, Georgia and Alabama. “We had a pretty cool setup,” the Missouri native who is ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the 247Sports Composite said in December before the Under Armour All-American game.
Linebacker Tyler Atkinson and tight ends Mark Bowman and Kaiden Prothro are three other 5-star prospects that UGA football is targeting as of now.
Jackson Cantwell took a shot at Pete Nakos for a false rumor, but when he was asked about his contract, he wouldn't tell, this didn't have a good impression.
But even though UM gave five-star tackle Jackson Cantwell a big financial package, he pushed back on the narrative that NIL money drove his decision.
Offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, considered one of the top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, said Tuesday that he will attend the University of Miami.
Oregon Ducks has also made a final push with a visit on Monday, but Georgia and Miami appear to be the main contenders. While sources in Coral Gables suggest Miami is exploring other options, the race isn’t over. As Wiltfong cautioned, “Miami has come on strong with another late offer on the NIL side as well. This could go a few different ways.”
