The sports world paid tribute to a heavy metal icon on Tuesday. Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Prince of Darkness, died at the age of 76 on Tuesday, and kind words quickly poured out for the larger-than-life singer.

Heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne is survived by his wife Sharon and six children from two marriages, including one adopted child.

The legendary rock star, Black Sabbath frontman and reality TV personality died on July 22 at 76. About two weeks prior, he played his final concert in his native Birmingham, England.

After news of the Black Sabbath vocalist’s death surfaced, Jessica and Louis Osbourne took to social media to subtly pay their respects to their late dad.

He joined Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood and other famous faces in paying tribute to the Black Sabbath singer.

Osbourne’s final show came nearly seven years after he stopped touring as health issues continued to pile up. One of those final shows came here in Michigan on Sept. 19, 2018 when he performed at Pine Knob (then known as the DTE Music Theatre) in Clarkston.

Two weeks before his death on Tuesday, Osbourne took part in Black Sabbath’s farewell show on July 5. He performed his final show with his bandmates — Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward — at the Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, England, where the band was formed in the late ’60s.

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has said the loss of his bandmate Ozzy Osbourne is "like losing a brother". The pair, who met at school in Aston, Birmingham, before being catapulted into the limelight with Black Sabbath and forging the heavy metal genre, were best friends for 57 years.
