The Northern Irishman saw his own title defence fall short, finishing six shots behind winner Sepp Straka after carding a round of 68.
Straka was rock-solid down the stretch in holding off Shane Lowry to win the PGA Tour Signature Event and the chunk of 700 FedEx Cup points that went with it.
Rory McIlroy, last year's Truist Championship winner, reflects after finishing this year's tournament in seventh place at 10 under. McIlroy now heads to his beloved Quail Hollow in Charlotte for the PGA Championship.
