U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Keith Kellogg said in Kyiv on Monday that officials are “working very, very hard” on efforts to end the three-year war between Russia and Ukraine, as a lack of progress fuels doubts about whether a peace settlement could be on the horizon.

President Trump has "a lot of cards left to play to apply pressure" to end the Russia-Ukraine war, Vice President JD Vance said in an interview broadcast Sunday. The big picture: Vance said on NBC News' "Meet the Press" that he didn't think Moscow was stringing Trump along after Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a separate interview on the same show that no leaders' meeting had been planned between Russia's Vladimir Putin

The President also confirmed he spoke with Putin in recent days, following his call last week after meeting European leaders, including Zelenskiy, to pitch a peace summit.
