I’d never heard of Clapper brigs, but @KevinGreig gave me directions to seek out this one in Glen Isla, Angus. They are big old functional pieces of infrastructure. No dressed stone, no sophisticated engineering, just huge heavy slabs put across foundations to make a river crossing safe (ish) Forter Castle stands half a mile away, guarding the glen.
