Tumbling Dice on Instagram: "December 1st, 1957: Buddy Holly & the Crickets made their first TV appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. As Paul said, if not for this band, The Beatles would not exist. It can’t be overstated how influential Buddy Holly was to rock music. His career was tragically cut short, his legacy definitely was not. Look no further than artists like Jack White to see it alive and well today. #buddyholly #classicrock #rockmusic"

Buddy Holly Fan and Collector on Instagram: "Buddy Holly & The Crickets returned to The Ed Sullivan Show for their second appearance on January 26, 1958, performing one of their biggest hits: “Oh, Boy!” 📺✨ This performance is especially legendary because Ed Sullivan disliked the song ‘Oh Boy’ as he believed the lyrics to be ‘too raunchy’ and asked them to play another song. But, Buddy stood his ground as he had promised his friends and family back in Lubbock they were going to perform ‘Oh Boy’.

Buddy Holly insisted on playing this song, “Oh, Boy!,” but Ed Sullivan told him to substitute it because he felt it was too inappropriate. He cut the Crickets’ act from two songs to one, and he mispronounced Holly’s name when he introduced them as “Buddy Hollet and his Crickets.” In addition, the line feed in his guitar was turned off by Sullivan. #edsullivan #buddyholly #rock #fyp #music #fypage #rockstar #band #fypシ #guitar #50s #live #throwbacksongs
